Our Services

Tailored to meet the needs of private and corporate collectors.

Cataloguing

Cataloguing is an important foundational step when it comes to managing and caring for an art collection. Whether it is for insurance, estate planning, or collection management purposes, we prepare detailed inventories that provide collectors with pertinent information about the value, condition, and provenance of their art and collectibles.

  • We take professional, high-quality photos of each artwork and object, including verso, recto, signatures, labels, marks, and inscriptions.

  • Condition can dramatically affect the value of an artwork. Our experts have the training and experience to assess the condition of your art and objects. We also offer advice on how to best care for your artworks and preserve their integrity, and can facilitate cleaning and conservation for any works that require treatment.

  • Establishing a clear line of provenance (i.e. the history of ownership), can help fill gaps in an artwork’s narrative and impact its value. Provenance research can also help to determine the authenticity of an artwork.

  • Having organized and digitized purchase documents helps reduce storage stress and retrieval time. It also helps to validate ownership and provenance when it comes time to sell, donate, or gift artwork.

  • We determine Fair Market Value (FMV) to help you understand the current value of your art and collectibles, which is important for sale, donation, and estate planning purposes. In addition to FMVs, we also provide our clients with Replacement Values for insurance purposes.

  • Once we have catalogued and valuated your collection, we provide our clients with customized inventory reports. If a client wishes to have access to our collection management database, a login can be provided with the purchase of an annual subscription.

Collections Management

We help clients manage and care for their art collections. This involves advising on and facilitating cleaning, conservation, framing, shipping, storage, installation, and museum loans, as well as managing our clients’ artwork records in one of the leading cloud-based collection management systems. With clients and projects across Canada, the United States, and Europe, we have developed a robust network of trusted vendors and service providers.

Art Advising

As an independent firm with access to an international network of artists, galleries, dealers, auction houses, and private sources, we are able to provide objective market advice to help our clients acquire, sell, or donate art. We provide expert guidance to help collectors navigate the primary and secondary art markets in Canada and internationally.

  • Working with a client’s budget and collecting goals in mind, we source artwork from galleries, dealers, auction houses, art fairs, private sources, and artists to help our clients add meaningfully to their collections over time. For clients who source their own work, we serve as a soundboard and provide unbiased advice on the condition, price, and quality of an artwork.

  • Collections evolve over time. We advise on and facilitate the sale or donation of artwork, including providing unbiased market advice, recommending avenues of sale/donation, soliciting proposals from dealers, galleries and auction houses, negotiating terms and conditions, and managing the sale/donation process on behalf of the Client.

  • For clients who are interested in buying or selling artwork privately, we provide access to private sources and can broker confidential transactions, protecting your artwork from overexposure.

  • Our team is well versed in current secondary market conditions and trends. We advise on bidding strategies and offer live and online bidding support.

Corporate Curating

We help clients build and manage corporate art collections. Whether a corporation is renovating its office, building a new tower, or simply looking to rehang or evolve its current collection, we handle all aspects of this work from start to finish — from defining a budget and collecting strategy to selecting and placing art to coordinating delivery, installation, and signage.

  • We help corporate clients define their collecting goals and develop tailored art programming strategies. Our team will advise on the best options for displaying artwork in your corporate space.

  • Taking into account budgets, sightlines, furniture, finishes, and function, we source artworks for purchase and make recommendations for placement, lighting, and display. We also advise on the cleaning, reframing and redeployment of existing pieces for clients who wish to leverage their existing collections.

  • We develop and manage art budgets, work with architectural plans, and oversee all aspects of procurement, framing, logistics, and installation.

Appraisals

We provide appraisals for insurance, estate planning, and donation, including CCPERB appraisals for cultural property donations. With a focus on fine art, our appraisals conform to the current Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), which is governed by The Appraisal Foundation.

Special Projects

From digital activations to book publications, we work with our clients to bring their collections to life in accessible, educational, and engaging ways. We also lead special events for our corporate clients, including talks and collection tours.

  • We work with our technology and design partners to create digital museum experiences that bring your art collection to life in accessible, educational, and engaging ways. From artwork profiles and artist biographies to guided tours and video interviews, our digital projects give you and your networks the ability to explore an art collection in-depth and from anywhere.

  • We curate both in-person and virtual exhibitions for our corporate and institutional clients using loaned work or pieces from a client’s existing collection.

  • We lead educational events for corporations and institutions including artist talks, panel discussions, and virtual or in-person collection tours.
